Mechanical Technician – Brand new Energy from Waste Power Station Fife, Scotland £47,500 + Bonus + Private Healthcare + Benefits       About the role: Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a global company, who specialise with the Energy from Waste industry, to recruit for 2 Mechanical Technicians to join their new-build Energy from Waste Power Station in Fife, Scotland. This opportunity will be working through the commissioning period into full operations, so it will be a fantastic opportunity to familiarise yourself with the plant with extensive training going into full operations. The EfW will process 240,000 tonnes of waste per annum, exporting 21.5MW of electricity to the grid. The vital Mechanical Technician role comes with a salary of £45,000 + £2,500 call out allowance + Bonus + Private Medical + Pension + Benefits.   If you’re an experienced Mechanical Technician and are looking to work for a leading organisation who invests in training and professional development of their employees, then upload your CV to apply today.                     Responsibilities and duties: Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Technician you will be responsible for:  
  • Fault finding and maintaining mechanical assets including steam boilers, pumps, gearboxes, valves, etc.
  • Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices
  • To ensure compliance with the pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements
  • Assisting in plant developments and projects
  • Supervising and setting to work on site contractors
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site CMMS
  • Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination
  • To ensure the availability of plant spares
    Professional qualifications: We are looking for someone with the following:
  • Ideally have an NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering
  • A health and safety qualification such as an IOSH will be highly advantageous
    Experience and personal skills: The Mechanical Technician role would suit someone who has:
  • Hands on maintenance experience with mechanical systems including, boilers, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, cranes etc
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill etc.
  • Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered
  • Involvement in plant mobilisation and commissioning is desirable but not essential.
