Introduction
Astute are proud to be supporting the UK Nuclear SMR (Small Modular Reactor) supply chain and we are looking to recruit a Principal Design Engineer to work for an award-winning engineering consultancy based out of Derby.
The Principal Design Engineer will be responsible for leading a team of designers to deliver the Turbine Island’s main turbine generator and feedwater systems engineering design development activities.
Roles & Responsibilities
As the Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Support the Turbine Island Lead in delivering the engineering activities within the design teams
- Liaise closely with the other SMR Island engineering functions
- Development of Safety and Functional requirements
- Design package production
- Development and review of water and steam cycle P&ID’s
- Preparation of technical specifications and reports
- Develop modularisation concepts
- Maintain equipment lists and engineering schedules
- Review Turbine Island 3D CAD models
- Support lead SMR developer on preliminary safety reviews, HAZOP reviews, optioneering and reactor island and turbine island systems interface requirements reviews
Skills & Qualifications
We are looking for a Principal Engineer with the following:
- Relevant experience in steam turbine and feedwater systems
- Experience in similar roles with specific emphasis on FEED through to detail design and EPC
- Experience leading and managing a multi-disciplinary design teams
- Appreciation of CDM and construction process
- CEng in relevant engineering discipline or working towards
- Security Clearance or capability of achieving it
