Field Service Engineer

Astute’s Nuclear Team is partnering with a great machine tools manufacturing company to recruit a Field Service Engineer based in Brighouse. This Field Service Engineer role comes with a salary of £46,000 per year plus overtime, a 4% matched pension, company car, life insurance, and excellent overtime opportunities. Responsibilities and duties of the Field Service Engineer role Within the role you will:  
  • Install, service and maintain large CNC and manual machine tools at customer sites across the UK
  • Carry out mechanical fitting, fault diagnosis and repair work on milling and machine tool equipment
  • Perform machine tool alignment and precision adjustments to ensure optimal performance
  • Conduct gearbox and machining head assembly, including correct setting of bevel gear meshing
  • Carry out hand scraping for geometrical adjustment where required
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults and implement effective repairs
  • Ensure all work complies with company health and safety standards
  • Represent the company professionally while working on customer sites
  • Identify potential opportunities for additional service work, spare parts, or service contracts
  Professional qualifications   We are looking for someone with the following: • Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship (preferred) • NVQ or higher qualification in an engineering discipline (preferred) • Proven experience working on large CNC and manual milling machinery • Strong mechanical fitting and machine tool fault diagnosis skills • Experience with machine tool alignment and precision engineering techniques • Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings, hydraulic schematics, and electrical diagrams • Basic electrical and hydraulic fault-finding knowledge • Good computing skills including Microsoft Office • Full UK driving licence (clean preferred) Personal skills   The Field Service Engineer role would suit someone who is: • Mechanically focused with strong practical engineering ability • Comfortable working independently at customer sites • Confident working within a small team environment • Customer focused with strong interpersonal skills • Highly organised with strong time management skills • A strong problem-solver with excellent attention to detail • Willing to travel across the UK and occasionally internationally • Keen to learn and develop within a specialist engineering business   Salary and benefits of the Field Service Engineer role   • £46,000 basic salary plus overtime opportunities • Company car • Contributory pension scheme (4% employer / 4% employee) • Life insurance • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (33 days total) #LI-AH1 INDREN
