JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Battery & Charger Engineer   Based: UK Wide Annual Leave: 25 days per annum plus 8 days public holidays   Pension: Government Workplace Pension Location The post holder’s main place of employment will be in the field at our customers’ site throughout the UK as determined by head office in Aberdeen. The postholder operates from home with work instructions being received on a daily basis from the Service Desk in the Head Office Working Hours The standard hours of work are 0800 – 1630 Monday to Friday. Any overtime must be pre-authorised by Norco head office in Aberdeen and will be paid at time and a half, or double time depending on the house worked. Overall Purpose of the Job The main purpose of the Battery and Charger Engineer role is to maintain, change and repair any Norco equipment on Customer sites. The postholder will be issued with weekly jobs to attend site for the topping, cleaning and maintaining of the batteries and will be issued with callouts as and when they come in to carry out repairs. Job sheets and reports must be completed and submitted to head office on a weekly basis. The post holder will report to Adrian Lowe, Service Manager and will work as part of the Service Team. Roles & Responsibilities The main duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
  • Onsite commissioning maintenance
  • Changing and Repairing industrial batteries, chargers and associated equipment
  • Complete job sheets and reports on battery maintenance for submission to Norco Head office.
  • Provide battery changing cover at customer’s sites around the UK as and when required
  • Cleaning of batteries and chargers to the agreed standard
  • Testing and repairing of batteries and chargers
  • Safely preparing equipment for transportation
  • Any other duties as required by Norco
Skills & Qualifications Strong electrical/mechanical knowledge would be an advantage although no formal qualifications are required for this post. Experience of working with fork lift trucks would be an advantage. Full training on product and equipment will be provided by Norco QHSE Responsibilites
  • To comply with Norco Group and Client, Quality, Safety and environmental management systems and procedures at all times.
  • Ensure that all accidents, incidents, near misses and hazards are immediately reported and relevant paperwork is completed.
