NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others.

This work is delivered at NSG’s own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles.

The Role
?
To competently perform plant operations, installations, handling, assembly, dismantling and other activities on equipment or within the site/workshop environment, and as instructed by Supervisor/Site Supervisor.
?
Key Objectives

Study & Training
?

Review skill levels and update them as necessary to competently carry out the tasks required of a Technician. This will include:
-
Basic Health & Safety [British Safety Council level 2 or IOSH managing safely]
-
Lifting and Slinging qualification
- 5S Standards
?
Project Delivery and Operations Support
?
-
Carry out tasks as required for specific projects including the assembly / installation / maintenance / operation and / or dismantling of
-
general plant and equipment
-
development / test rigs
Complete and maintain as necessary all associated records and documentation
?
Internal Communication and Liaison
?
-
Contribute to the development of business by internal referral and communication of appropriate information and intelligence
?

Qualifications
?

Advanced apprenticeship / NVQ Level 4 or BTEC- Essential
-
NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in a relevant mechanical engineering discipline- Essential
-
GCSE at 'C' grade or above in English, Mathematics, Science or technical subject- Desirable
-

CSCS card for relevant trade- Desirable
-
Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent- Desirable (Relevant Training will be provided)

Experience & Knowledge
?

Manufacture and fitting of mechanical parts & assemblies- Essential

Familiar with site / factory work environments- Essential

Lifting & Slinging experience- Essential

Work experience within engineering, science or construction environment- Desirable

Skills & Abilities

Use of hand tools for assembly- Essential

Understands and can work to mechanical engineering drawings- Essential
