Astute’s Renewable Team is partnered with a leading Energy company to recruit for a Draughtsman to support ongoing workshop and project CAD drawing requirements. This role is a contract position, with potential to transition into a permanent role if the right fit is found.
Role responsibilities and key skills:
• Producing and updating CAD drawings for both mechanical and electrical systems, primarily using SolidWorks • Redlining project drawings and supporting ongoing design updates in collaboration with the project team • Working through a backlog of workshop drawings to ensure timely delivery • Coordinating with engineers and project leads to ensure drawings meet project requirements • Supporting project documentation and design control processes • Previous experience as a Draughtsman with expertise in mechanical drawings (electrical experience highly desirable) • Proficiency in SolidWorks and general CAD practices • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawings • Ability to work independently and manage multiple drawing tasks • Flexible approach to work, supporting both project and workshop demandsLocation and timeframe:

This Mechanical Engineer role comes with a salary of £50,000 - £66,000 per year plus benefits and has Monday to Friday working hours. Oversee mechanical maintenance of plant equipment
Monitor rotating machinery and ensure safe operation
Coordinate shutdown and maintenance planning across disciplines
Maintain compliance with statutory inspections and documentation
Manage safety systems, lifting gear, and pressure systems
Support accident, incident and near-miss investigations
Lead mechanical personnel and manage related departmental duties
Review and recommend spare parts holdings
Set and manage the mechanical department budget
Engineering background within power generation such as Energy from Waste, CCGT, Biomass, Oil, Coal, or marine engineering
Competency in relevant safety legislation and industry standards
5+ years of relevant experience
Familiarity with equipment inspections, safe systems of work, and technical documentation
Comfortable working in a demanding environment
Effective at prioritising and decision-making
Confident with written and verbal communication
Computer literate
