The Mechanical Technician role comes with a starting salary of up to £48,000 + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Technician role
Reporting to the Mechanical Team Leader you will:

Conduct preventative and reactive maintenance across mechanical plant systems, including steam turbines, hydraulic systems, and gas engines.

Carry out overhauls and repairs on steam valves and associated components.

Support and participate in fault diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical issues.

Complete scheduled inspections and performance checks using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental protocols and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

Contribute to the preparation and execution of Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), including risk assessments.

Participate in toolbox talks and team briefings to promote a safety-first culture.

Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing reliability and efficiency of plant operations.

Assist with shutdowns, installations, and commissioning of mechanical equipment as required.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

Apprentice trained mechanical engineer
-
Technical expertise in at least one of the following: steam valve maintenance, steam turbines, hydraulic systems, or gas engines.

Familiarity with Permit to Work systems and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.

Relevant vocational or technical qualifications (e.g., IOSH, GCSEs/CSEs, or equivalent).
