EC&I Technician

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Biomass Power Company to recruit an Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Technician its site in Norfolk. We are looking for an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Technician to join the Maintenance Team of this exciting project. As an EC&I Technician, you’ll be responsible for carrying out reactive and preventative maintenance across a variety of critical EC&I assets. If you’re interested and have the right skillset then please apply. Responsibilities and duties of the EC and I Technician role: Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for:
  • Fault finding, installing and maintaining electrical systems, instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow and level) and control systems (ABB)
  • Calibrations and loop checking of instruments relating to the sites DCS/control systems
  • Programming the sites DCS/PLC systems
  • Maintaining the continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS)
  • Assist in the development of plant modification and improvement work
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the site CMMS
  • Supervising and directing on site contractors when required
  • Ensuring strict HSE compliance at all times
Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:
  • A recognised electrical/C&I engineering apprenticeship ideally gained in a heavy process industry
  • An HNC/ONC or equivalent in either electrical or C&I engineering
  • A solid level of knowledge and understanding of maintenance strategies associated with electrical control systems
  • IOSH or NEBOSH would be advantageous
Personal skills The Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Technician role would suit someone who is:
  • At least 4 years of experience working in the maintenance team in a heavy process environment such as a power station, refinery, chemical plant or paper mill.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience with motors, switchgear, instrumentation (flow, level, pressure, temperature etc) and control systems (SCADA, DCS and PLC)
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill etc. Royal Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered.
  • Experience with High-Voltage equipment such as transformers / switchgear will be advantageous.
