Astute’s Power Team is partnering with a leading Engineering and Industrial Solutions Sub-Contractor who operate in the Power Generation, Utilities, Petrochemical and Heavy Industry sector.

We are looking for a Accountant to drive profitable growth and support major projects across the South East of England. Responsibilities and duties of the Accountant role: Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for:
  • finance functions: budgeting, forecasting, management accounts, cash flow, audit, and financial compliance.
  • Partner with operations, projects, commercial and engineering teams to ensure financial rigour across project bids, contracts, cost control and performance management.
  • Ensure robust risk management, systems, and internal controls; optimize processes for improved efficiency and transparency.
  • high-performance culture aligned with the company’s values of reliability, professionalism, and doing things the right way.

Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:
  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with strong experience in engineering, utilities, power generation or similar heavy industries.
  • Ideally qualified with a relevant Business or Finance degree

Personal skills The Accountant position would suit someone who has:
  • Excellent commercial awareness: project finance, contract management, cost estimation, project margin improvement.
  • Strong systems mindset; comfortable with financial systems, ERP, and data analysis to inform decision making.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to influence across all levels, from shop-floor engineers to the Board.
