Responsibilities and duties of the Accountant role:
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for:
- finance functions: budgeting, forecasting, management accounts, cash flow, audit, and financial compliance.
- Partner with operations, projects, commercial and engineering teams to ensure financial rigour across project bids, contracts, cost control and performance management.
- Ensure robust risk management, systems, and internal controls; optimize processes for improved efficiency and transparency.
- high-performance culture aligned with the company’s values of reliability, professionalism, and doing things the right way.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with strong experience in engineering, utilities, power generation or similar heavy industries.
- Ideally qualified with a relevant Business or Finance degree
Personal skills
The Accountant position would suit someone who has:
- Excellent commercial awareness: project finance, contract management, cost estimation, project margin improvement.
- Strong systems mindset; comfortable with financial systems, ERP, and data analysis to inform decision making.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to influence across all levels, from shop-floor engineers to the Board.
