Introduction
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Transfer Station Manager to join one of the industry leaders in hazardous waste management solutions across the UK. Working as the Assistant Transfer Station Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the transfer station, ensuring the site is running efficiently, allocating work as appropriate and offering support and training to the site chemists and operators across the site.
Roles & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Transfer Station Manager, you will be responsible for:

The day-to-day management of a busy waste transfer station, overseeing a team of operatives, site chemists and drivers.

Ensure that site operations comply with the site licence, working plans, UK legislation and standard operating procedures. Reviewing site procedures and risk assessments regularly.

Driving operations in line with company performance targets and budget requirements as well as working in line with customer agreements.

Managing the on-site team, allocating workload and resources to ensure that the movement of waste is maintained through the site and managed for removal.

Provide technical support, training and development opportunities to the site chemist and operator teams as well as managing recruitment and new recruits where needed.

Ensuring that the site is always kept clean in accordance with all site permits.

Deal with any issues that might arise with operators, contractors, drivers, and visitors.

Promoting best health and safety practice at all time, liaising with the safety representative regularly.

Other duties as required.
Skills & Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

HNC qualified or equivalent in Chemistry/ Environmental or a related subject

COTC Level 4 in Managing Transfer or Treatment Operations would be beneficial.

Previous experience working in a management role across an operational site.

Strong knowledge and experience working in the waste management sector.

Full UK driving licence.

Excellent communication skills.
