Senior Quantity Surveyor

Astute’s Nuclear team is partnering with a company who are leaders in lifecycle construction and operations for the Utilities and Infrastructure sectors and are looking for a qualified Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on site at Hinkley Point C Nuclear Station in Bridgwater. As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will support the day-to-day requirements of the Commercial team across various disciplines across the Business. You will be responsible for supporting the Project Managers with sound commercial advice and support. If you’re a SQS with experience in drafting and issuing NEC contracts, working with multidisciplined teams and have excellent commercial awareness, then upload your CV to apply today.                 Responsibilities and duties As the Quantity Surveyor you will:
  • Oversee change management through CEMAR, ensuring compliance with contractual deadlines.
  • Ensure timely preparation of Monthly Applications for Payment in line with contract conditions.
  • Provide commercial advice to the site team and management on all contractual matters.
  • Draft and issue NEC3 subcontracts, ensuring clear communication of contractual obligations.
  • Prepare internal contract valuations, accurately assessing project costs and progress.
  • Prepare monthly cost and value reports, presenting insights to senior management.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, the managing QS, and engineering disciplines.
  • Compile and present forecasts at meetings, contributing to data-driven decisions and proactive risk management.
  • Assist Contracts Managers and operational teams with sound commercial advice, leveraging industry expertise.
  • Guide and mentor junior commercial team members, promoting professional growth and continuous learning.
  • Manage projects to maximize opportunities and minimize risks.
Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:
  • Qualification in Quantity Surveying
  • Ability to manage multiple schemes
  • Experience working within construction sector is essential
Personal skills The SQS role would suit someone who is:
  • Excellent commercial awareness
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • The ability to work well under pressure, and to deadlines
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to work on site at Hinkley Point C
  • Ability to obtain security clearance
Salary and benefits of the SQS role
  • Salary up to £70,000 DOE
  • 25 days holiday plus BH, rising to 28 days with length of service
  • Up to 20% combined pension contribution
  • Opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year
  • Performance related bonus of around 5%
