Introduction
We are assisting our client a large defence company who is looking for a Principal Engineer with Mechanical Handling experience to support the delivery of mechanical handling equipment within the dockyard facility in Devonport. As the Principal Engineer you will be required to Lead and manage mechanical handling design packages whilst ensuring requirements are met through the design process.
Roles & Responsibilities
As the Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the delivery of mechanical handling equipment within the Dock Facility in Devonport. This handling equipment consists of a gantry / goliath crane, fixed pedestal cranes and alternative mechanical handling equipment for moving smaller loads around the facility.
- Lead and manage mechanical handling design packages for Dock Facility ensuring requirements are met through the design process
- Manage deliverables through the Design process and Technical Governance process to ensure quality and consistency.
- Integration with other design disciplines to ensure that a co-ordinated Facility design is delivered
Skills & Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Hold a degree in a relevant discipline and Chartered Membership of an appropriate Institution.

Have experience in
the
design of cranes through design process with experience of requirements substantiation thereof
- Knowledge of lifting techniques, process etc. within a facility-based production environment
- Experience in the design of conventional mechanical handling equipment to support production activities, focus on materials handling and flow.
- Hold or be eligible to obtain security clearance (SC)
