Contracts Manager

Our client are the strategic partners for Transmission System Operators, supporting the development and production of transmission grids, and helping to facilitate the bulk movement of electrical energy from the site of generation to electrical substations. Making innovation a cornerstone of our work, and R&D a constant investment, we offer both HVAC and HVDC cable systems for power transmission for both land and submarine connections.

Benefiting from years of experience, our client provide superior turnkey services for new cable projects or the upgrade of existing cable circuits. These projects are delivered by our skilled project and contract managers who manage, install, test and service the entire cable system.

 

Within our UK High Voltage business, we currently have a vacancy for the role of Contract Manager, working as part of our specialist, experienced team.

 

In this role your responsibilities will be:
  • Oversee the commercial and contractual management of projects from inception through to completion working in conjunction with the project delivery teams ensuring alignment to business objectives and goals.
  • Managing a team of Contract Managers, Quantity Surveyors and a Contract Support Administrator and ensuring they fully fulfil their role and responsibilities.
  • Development and implementation of procurement and commercial strategies to optimise value for money including negotiation of claims for variations with Clients/Subcontractors where agreement could not be reached at site level.
  • Liaise closely with Clients, Subcontractors and all Prysmian internal departments to ensure that all parties are aware of the key contractual requirements for each project including key/completion dates, scope management process, payment schedules etc.
  • Providing monthly project progress reports to Senior Management and ensuring timely and accurate cost reporting.
  • Provide formal feedback to the Bid and Procurement teams, identifying any cost issues or potential cost saving opportunities for the future.

Key Requirements:
  • Strong commercial acumen with well-developed interpersonal, problem-solving and negotiation skills with demonstrable experience delivering a range of projects.
  • A good working knowledge of UK construction contracts. Experience of working with the NEC ECC and FIDIC forms of contract with the ability to research, gather and present information both verbally and written
  • Experience in estimating, cost and budget management, pre and post contract administration, contract negotiation, claims and commercial programme and risk management
  • Excellent IT skills including knowledge of all MS office applications
  • Short duration travel to other Prysmian plants or customer’s premises or sites in the UK and Europe may occasionally be required.
