Astute’s Power Team is partnering with a leading District Heating company to recruit a Commercial Gas Engineer working across their sites in London and South.
The Commercial Gas Engineer role comes with salary of up to £45,000 + private medical insurance + company van + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Commercial Gas Engineer role
Reporting to the Lead Commercial Engineer you will:
• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on commercial plant systems (gas boilers, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, etc.)
• Diagnose and repair faults in commercial gas boilers from various manufacturers.
• Respond to reactive call-outs, investigate system failures, and reinstate services on site.
• Participate in an on-call rota, ensuring critical support outside of core hours (1 week in 4).
• Safely isolate systems mechanically and electrically before commencing repairs.
• Keep detailed and accurate maintenance records through a digital work order system.
• Support root cause analysis for recurring faults to improve system resilience.
• Manage small-scale remedial works and help define project scopes with the engineering team.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and site-based stakeholders.
• Contribute to a culture of innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
• 3 years' experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer or in a similar role.
• Commercial gas certifications (e.g., TPCP1, BMP1) required.
• NVQ Level 2/3 in Mechanical Engineering or related qualification (preferred).
• Full UK driving licence (minimum 12 months validity).
• Comfortable reading technical drawings (e.g., P&IDs, schematics); basic electrical knowledge is a plus.
• Can work an on-call rota (approx.. 1 in 7 weeks)
