As a Forging Press Operator, you will be responsible for:
Operating a forging press with the purpose of forging into splines and axles. Upset forging involves locally heating a metal bar and then, while holding it firmly with special tooling, applying pressure to the end of the bar in the direction of its axis to deform it to customer specifications and tolerances.Responsible for the initial startup of their assigned press and related machinery as well as conducting any relevant safety checks in the work area and managing the operation of the press for duration of shift.
Duties:
• Start up, check and operate the automatic forging press, as well as related equipment such as furnaces or heaters, cranes, and conveyors as needed.
• Collaborates with the Utility person and helper as needed to transport raw material effectively and safely.
• Maintains a safe and clean workspace including areas on and around assigned machines, as well as surrounding the work environment within the Forge.
• Measures raw material and or finished products for conformance specifications with the use of hand and pneumatic tools such as Tape Measure, Dial Indicators, Length Gage, Scale/Rule, Roll Stand, and Micrometers.
