Video DevOps & Quality Engineer
Location: Atlanta, GA Schedule: OnsiteIDR is seeking a Video DevOps & Quality Engineer to support the monitoring, reliability, and performance of video streaming platforms across a large-scale media ecosystem. This role is ideal for a highly motivated engineer with experience in video systems, automated observability tools, and DevOps practices. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with developers, operations teams, and business stakeholders to ensure high video quality and system availability.
Position Overview / Responsibilities:Monitor and troubleshoot video platform performance using observability tools (Datadog, Splunk, etc.)
Conduct root cause analysis of streaming video issues, outages, or degradation
Partner with internal teams to triage live production issues across content ingestion, encoding, and delivery
Build and maintain dashboards, alerts, and anomaly detection rules for proactive issue resolution
Identify opportunities to improve system resiliency and performance through automation
Document standard operating procedures (SOPs), incident workflows, and technical guides
Support ad insertion, CDN monitoring, and playback workflows to ensure seamless user experience
Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support coverage
Collaborate with engineering and QA teams to validate changes in video delivery pipelines
Continuously improve video quality metrics and align testing strategies with DevOps best practices
5+ years of experience in video operations, DevOps, or system reliability engineering (SRE)
Strong understanding of video streaming workflows (HLS, DASH, encoding, packaging, delivery)
Proficient in monitoring tools like Datadog, Splunk, or similar observability platforms
Experience with scripting languages (Bash, Python) and CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with CDN technologies, video players, and playback analytics
Knowledge of ad insertion workflows (DAI, SSAI) and client-side troubleshooting
Experience in a fast-paced, production-critical environment supporting media services
Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
Strong documentation habits and attention to detail
Experience with live event streaming platforms and on-demand video workflows
Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform, or cloud infrastructure tools
Knowledge of DRM technologies (Widevine, FairPlay, PlayReady)
Prior involvement in incident response and operational readiness planning
Experience with video test automation or synthetic playback testing frameworks
