Position Title: Staff Accountant

Pay Range: $51k–$74k

Key Responsibilities
In your role as Staff Accountant, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of our financial operations. Your responsibilities will include:

Accounting Procedures & Controls: Establish and oversee robust accounting procedures and internal controls across various fund types and revenue sources.

Compliance & Accuracy: Apply GAAP and GASB standards to ensure precise accounting of revenues, expenditures, transfers, payables, receivables, and inventory.

Verification & Issue Resolution: Verify source documents for accuracy and compliance, diligently identifying and resolving any system issues that may arise.

Account Reconciliation: Review and reconcile complex accounts, recommending process enhancements to drive efficiencies.

Financial Reporting: Prepare agency financial reports, compile statewide report data, and contribute to annual financial statements.

Fiscal Planning Support: Develop cash forecasts, revenue estimates, and expenditure projections to facilitate informed fiscal planning.

Budget Monitoring: Monitor budget balances and advise on corrective measures as needed to maintain financial health.

Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively with financial and program staff to communicate accounting policies and address any discrepancies.
What You’ll Bring
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, OR
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 18 semester hours in accounting coursework, OR
- Associate degree in Accounting plus 3 years of complex technical accounting experience, OR
- 6 years of relevant technical accounting experience.
Required Coursework:
- Principles of Accounting I & II
- Intermediate Accounting I & II
- Two additional accounting-related classes.
Skills and Experience:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and GASB principles.
- Proven experience in maintaining complex accounts with multiple fund types.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, capable of manipulating and analyzing data effectively.
- Ability to analyze nonstandard transactions and implement corrective actions.
- Familiarity with computerized accounting systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Location & Schedule:
This position is hybrid, featuring a Monday–Friday schedule of 40 hours per week. Most team members work in-office on Thursdays, and all necessary equipment for remote work will be provided, including a laptop and dual monitors.
