Job Title: Marine Composite Technician
Pay: $24.00 - $26.50 hourly (with potential for $27.00 for the right candidate)
Hours: Generally 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., four days per week. Occasional overtime or weekend shifts may be required.
Start Date: ASAP (Temporary-to-Hire)

As a Marine Composite Technician, you will play a key role in the composite construction of boats. You’ll work closely with co-workers and supervisors to deliver results that make a difference in producing high-quality marine vessels.
What You’ll Do:
As a Marine Composite Technician, you will be responsible for:

Performing all phases of composite boat construction.

Assembling female and male molds, including filling and fairing joint seams and applying mold release wax.

Fabricating kits by cutting fabric to specific sizes and directions.
-
Laying up materials and installing peel ply, fabrics, flow media, and vacuum and feeder lines.
-
Mixing resin materials accurately by weight and volume.
-
Monitoring infusions for temperature, vacuum infusion, and time.
-
Installing infused modular pieces, such as bulkheads, floor systems, decks, and pilothouses.

Finishing, trimming, and fitting composite parts.
-
Performing wet lay-up and wet preg for secondary bonding and tabbing.
-
Grinding and sanding for secondary bonding.

Working hands-on on multiple projects simultaneously.

Using equipment such as grinders, sanders, power electric shears, hand tools, table saws, cut-off saws, epoxy mixing equipment, skill saws, and jig saws.
What You’ll Bring:
The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Prior experience working with composites.

Basic carpentry skills for constructing staging, platforms, templates, and molds, as well as cutting and fitting pieces.

The ability to work productively and cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.

The ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Basic mathematical skills.

The ability to read plans and blueprints.
-
The flexibility to work in standing, squatting, or kneeling positions, and reach overhead with occasional twisting and bending.

The ability to climb stairs and ladders.

The ability to work with epoxy, vinyl ester, and polyester resins and adhesives.

The ability to work in small spaces.

The ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

The ability to meet the requirements of the work schedule.

The ability to use measuring tools.

The ability to wear a respirator.
-
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to perform service and maintenance, as required.
