Astute's Power Team are currently recruiting for a Project Site Manager to join the EPC Contractor on the new build synchronous condenser based in Pembrokeshire.
The Project Site Manager position comes with a day rate from £600.00 to £650.00 per day outside of IR35.
Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:
- Lead all on-site construction, commissioning, and project delivery activities for the successful execution of a new-build Synchronous Condenser facility, ensuring adherence to programme, budget, quality, and safety objectives.
- Manage and coordinate all site-based personnel, subcontractors, OEM representatives, and specialist contractors throughout the construction, installation, commissioning, and handover phases of the project.
- Act as the primary site interface between the EPC Contractor, Client, National Grid representatives, consultants, and key stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project alignment.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of major electrical and mechanical equipment, including synchronous condensers, transformers, HV switchgear, protection systems, auxiliary systems, and associated balance-of-plant infrastructure.
- Ensure all site activities are executed in accordance with project specifications, contractual requirements, applicable regulations, and industry best practices.
- Drive site safety performance by promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation, conducting regular inspections, and leading toolbox talks, risk assessments, and method statement reviews.
- Monitor project progress against schedule, identify potential risks and delays, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain critical project milestones and energisation targets.
- Coordinate commissioning and energisation activities in conjunction with commissioning managers, Senior Authorised Persons (SAPs), OEMs, and network operators to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
- Manage site logistics, resource allocation, material deliveries, and subcontractor performance to maximise productivity and minimise disruption to project activities.
- Chair regular site coordination meetings, progress reviews, and stakeholder updates, ensuring clear communication of project status, key risks, and action plans.
- Oversee quality assurance and quality control processes, ensuring all construction and commissioning works are completed in accordance with approved procedures and documentation requirements.
- Support grid connection activities, interface management, and final handover processes, ensuring all systems are tested, commissioned, documented, and transferred successfully to the Client.
- Demonstrate previous experience delivering large-scale power generation, transmission, substation, renewable energy, or grid stability projects, with direct experience on Synchronous Condenser installations considered highly advantageous.
