Astute’s EPC Contract Power team is partnering with a leading EPCm Contractor to recruit a Senior HSE Manager to join their fast paced construction team on a 12 months contract basis for their Waste to Energy facility based in Glasgow.
The Senior HSE Manager comes with a day rate from £600.00 to £650.00 per day (Outside IR35) Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:Lead full HSE management for EPCM delivery on a large-scale waste-to-energy facility, ensuring compliance throughout mechanical & electrical installation, commissioning, and final handover
Develop, implemented, and enforced the Project HSE Management Plan, aligned with EPCM standards, client requirements, and local regulatory frameworks
Provide site-wide HSE leadership, overseeing multiple contractors and subcontractors to ensure safe execution of complex M&E activities
Manage risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and permit-to-work systems, ensuring high-risk activities were planned, controlled, and executed safely
Deliver proactive safety leadership during commissioning, including energisation, testing, hot works, pressure systems, and process start-up activities
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and behavioural safety observations, driving continuous improvement and strong safety culture across the project
Act as primary HSE interface between EPCM, client, regulators, and contractors, ensuring clear communication and consistent standards
Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, producing root cause analyses and corrective action plans with measurable outcomes
Lead HSE readiness and handover processes, ensuring all safety documentation, training records, and statutory requirements were completed prior to operational takeover
Champion a zero-harm culture, mentoring site teams and supervisors while maintaining excellent safety performance across full site delivery
