Astutes Power Team are working exclusively with Marchwood Power Limited who own & operate the Marchwood Gas Fired Power Station in Southampton. This plant is able to produce 900MW of Power in a Combined Cycle configuration.
Due to an internal promotion we are now looking for a Control & Instrumentation Technician to join the Maintenance Team. The C&I Technician is an integral role within the Maintenance department responsible for the short & long term maintenance on all Control & Instrumentation assets as well as supporting on projects & outages.

Responsibilities and duties:
As the Control & Instrumentation Technician you will be responsible for:

Carrying out pre-planned / reactive maintenance and calibrations on instrumentation equipment including pressure, level, flow, temperature sensors

Performing fault finding and maintenance activities on the Control System which includes the Siemens T3000 Control System & Siemens S7 PLC’s

Ensuring maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely and within environmental parameters of the power station

Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices

Assisting in plant developments and projects

Supervising and setting to work on site contractors

Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site CMMS

Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination

Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
-
A recognised Process Control / Instrumentation / Automation / Electronics engineering apprenticeship ideally gained in a heavy process industry e.g. power station, pharmaceutical plant, steels works, paper mill, manufacturing etc.

An HNC / ONC or equivalent in relevant engineering would be advantageous
-
Ideally an IOSH or NEBOSH or Health & Safety Qualification
Personal skills
The Control & Instrumentation Technician would suit someone with:
-
Experience with control systems (DCS, SCADA, PLC’s) and instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, level etc) equipment

Practical knowledge of maintenance procedures and processes associated with heavy process industries
-
Ability to confidently carry out loop checks and ladder logic
-
Competent in reading & interrogating P&ID’s
-
Competent with Permit to Work systems
-
Working knowledge of legislation relevant to the role such as HASAWA, SIS, PSSR & ATEX
