Astute’s Power team is partnering with a Principal Contractor in the renewable energy sector to recruit a Senior Project Manager with a civils bias for utility-scale solar farm projects on a long-term contract in the South/Southwest of England.
The role comes with a negotiable day rate depending on experience.
Key skills

Proven experience delivering large-scale solar PV projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover, with a particular focus on civils works.

Ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and resourcing to ensure successful delivery of solar developments.

Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams including subcontractors, civil engineers, and consultants.

Ensure all project activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, company standards, and client requirements.

Maintain clear and regular communication with stakeholders, clients, landowners, and grid operators throughout the project lifecycle.

Manage risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and all associated project documentation.

Oversee site activities including civil, electrical, and mechanical workstreams, ensuring integration and timely progress—with a particular emphasis on managing civils packages such as earthworks, access roads, drainage, and foundations.

Chair project meetings, prepare progress reports, and address any delays or issues impacting delivery.

Identify opportunities for optimisation and cost savings without compromising on safety or quality.

Strong understanding of grid connection processes and DNO requirements.

Familiarity with planning consent conditions and environmental compliance.

Ensure quality assurance and handover documentation is complete and accurately recorded.

Experience with NEC or similar contracts is highly advantageous.

Solar industry experience is essential; battery storage experience would be beneficial.
