Astute’s Power Team is partnering with a leading company in the power generation sector to recruit a Mechanical Engineer for its combined heat and power plant (CCGT) in Retford, Nottinghamshire.
The Mechanical Engineer role comes with a competitive salary dependant on experience, opportunity to progress, and a Monday to Friday working pattern, with some flexibility required during outages.

Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Engineer role Reporting to the Mechanical Manager you will:
Deliver safe, compliant and cost-effective mechanical engineering and maintenance solutions across CCGT plant and systems
Diagnose faults and support effective resolution through structured analysis and engineering judgement
Develop and implement maintenance strategies to improve plant reliability, availability and efficiency
Plan, scope and manage mechanical engineering works, including plant modifications and improvements
Support predictive and preventative maintenance activities to optimise long-term asset performance
Manage external contractors and service providers during maintenance activities, outages and projects
Produce and maintain technical documentation, reports, drawings and engineering records
Ensure all activities meet health, safety, environmental and quality standards
Contribute to budget management, contract specifications and commercial decision-making
Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:
Degree level qualification is highly desired, but HNC/HND would be considered. Mechanical or engineering related subject required.
IOSH or NEBOSH highly desired.
The willingness to work towards, or hold, Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status
Personal and Professional skills The Mechanical Engineer role would suit someone who is:
Methodical and analytical, with a structured approach to problem solving
Proven experience in mechanical maintenance or engineering within an industrial or power generation environment
Strong knowledge of mechanical plant equipment and asset management principles
Experience managing contractors, work programmes and maintenance budgets
Collaborative, with the confidence to lead activities and influence safe working behaviours
