Maintenance Engineer

Astute’s Power Team is partnering with a leading company in the power generation sector to recruit a Maintenance Engineer for its Energy from Waste power plant in Plymouth. 

The Maintenance Engineer role comes with a salary of £52,000 – £54,000, bonus opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties of the Maintenance Engineer role Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will:
  • Plan and coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance activities across the plant

  • Supervise contractors and ensure maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards

  • Support the planning and delivery of routine maintenance, outages and reactive work

  • Monitor maintenance performance and provide feedback to improve reliability and availability of plant equipment

  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with site safety procedures, policies and statutory requirements

  • Raise, track and close work orders within the site CMMS system

  • Liaise with operations, engineering and support teams to ensure effective maintenance planning and execution

Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:
  • Apprentice trained engineer, ideally with an HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline

  • Experience supervising mechanical and electrical maintenance activities within a heavy process industry

  • IOSH qualification (minimum) or equivalent health and safety training

  • Experience using a CMMS system for maintenance planning and scheduling

  • Knowledge of safe systems of work within an industrial environment

  • Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office applications

  • Confident supervising contractors and managing maintenance activities

  • A clear communicator who can work effectively with multiple departments

Salary and benefits of the Maintenance Engineer role
  • Salary £52,000 – £54,000

  • Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate

  • Bonus up to 12.5%

  • Pension 3% employee / 6% employer contribution
