Control and Instrumentation Engineer

  Responsibilities and duties of the Control and Instrumentation Engineer role Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will:
  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across control systems, instrumentation and electrical equipment.

  • Manage the site DCS, including alarms, logic changes, system checks and contractor support.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, engineering and legislative standards, including ATEX/DSEAR and functional safety requirements.

  • Improve plant reliability through structured analysis and proactive engineering actions.

  • Support site safety programmes, audits and investigations.

  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to colleagues.

  • Lead engineering projects and manage change processes.

  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and engineering procedures.

  • Manage budgets, service contracts and procurement within assigned cost centres.

  • Contribute to ISO, quality and compliance activities, and participate in the duty manager rota.

  Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:
  • HNC (or equivalent) in controls, instrumentation or a related discipline.

  • Industrial experience in a 24/7, process or energy environment.

  • Knowledge of EC&I standards, DCS systems and maintenance practices.

  • Experience with outage planning, contractor management and SHEQ processes.

  • Competence in using maintenance management systems and technical reporting.

  • Background in managing budgets, contracts and engineering improvements.
