One of our major clients in the Chantilly, VA area is currently seeking a Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician in their specialty pharmacy. As a Sterile Compounding Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Prepare sterile intravenous medications following USP <797> guidelines and other applicable regulations.
  • Perform calculations to ensure accurate quantities of ingredients are used in each compounded medication.
  • Maintain a clean and organized compounding area to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Adhere to aseptic techniques and proper gowning procedures during compounding activities.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of compounding equipment.
  • Label compounded medications accurately and ensure proper documentation of all activities.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate medication preparation and delivery.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, including monitoring of environmental conditions and conducting sterility testing.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.
  • Virginia State Pharmacy Technician License, active in good standing
  • National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is required
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in sterile IV compounding within a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of USP <797> guidelines and other relevant regulations governing sterile compounding.
  • Proficiency in performing sterile compounding calculations and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Experience with automated compounding technology (ACT) systems.
  • Knowledge of hazardous drug handling guidelines (USP <800>).
